Damian McCarthy's Hokum sends Adam Scott's grieving writer to a remote Irish hotel with a witch story attached. Critics mostly praise the atmosphere, sound and Scott, and split mainly on how fresh it feels and how often it jumps; the reservations are about novelty, not execution.
A confident, well-built haunted-hotel chiller that earns four stars.
