A tough, serious Bond reboot that still plays as a character-driven thriller, and the 4K re-release is a good excuse to see it big. Daniel Craig, Mads Mikkelsen and Eva Green anchor a Madagascar chase that critics still single out, while the poker at the centre runs long.
Most of the 2006 reviews we drew on loved the new Bond; one found the formula familiar. The score follows the majority.
