A shoestring, semi-improvised portrait of seven Camden friends becoming Madness, played by the band themselves. Critics love its atmosphere, humour and period London, and the songs; they split on the loose, ropey, scrapbook structure.
Worth seeing for the time and place more than the plot. The 4K restoration is back in UK and Irish cinemas from early October, and the score follows the warm majority.
