How big should your screen be? Start with where you sit
The critic
Don't start with inches. Start with how far your eyes are from the screen, because what makes a picture feel cinematic is the angle it fills.
SMPTE suggests at least 30 degrees and THX 36. Slide your seating distance below and get the screen diagonal that fits, with the nearest common size, a top-down diagram and notes on 4K and wide-screen films.
